I need a full replacement, what do I do next? - First step is to call your insurance, ask what your Comprehensive Deductible is - you can have a completely different deductible for Collision than for Comprehensive, it is worth a chat with your agent to see how a lower Comprehensive deductible will effect your premium before you consider opening a new claim. Once you know what your out of pocket cost will be, your next step is to get a quote for the total cost.

Now that I have a quote, what are the next steps? - If you will pay out of pocket, we will order the glass and call you to schedule the installation once the glass is in. If the cost is over your deductible, you will call your insurance to open a claim and let them know that Grainger's Auto Glass be doing the work. Your insurance will send us the documents needed so we can bill them.  It generally takes 1-3 days for the glass to come in, if it is not currently back-ordered. Once we have inspected it, we will call to arrange the best time and place for us to complete the job.

Now what? My windshield is cracked - is it repairable or do I need a new glass?aIf the chip is in the driver's line of sight or larger than a quarter, you will need a new windshield. If not, we can seal the chip and although it will not completely disappear, it will prevent the chip from spreading. Most insurance companies will cover 100% of a chip repair under the Comprehensive Coverage

What if my vehicle has a Safety System with a camera near the glass? - Many new vehicles are coming equipped with what the industry calls, a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) which is cameras and sensors that help by alerting the driver of a potential froward collision or even vehicle assisted braking when the camera, located near your rear view mirror senses danger. Most vehicles with this LDWS require dealer (OEM) glass and re-calibration. In these cases, we will work with your insurance to get the OEM glass and the additional cost of the re-calibration covered. Once the pricing is approved, we will order the glass. We will arrange for you to drop your vehicle off at our shop or the local Dealer Service Center for the day. We will install the new glass and re-calibrate the camera, ensuring the reliability of your vehicles LDWS as well and the safety of your passengers.
